Speed Limits Reduce Pollution

Most people seem to forget the simple fact that fast driving and acceleration uses more fuel than slow driving and acceleration. Couple that with the fact that so few of us actually observe the posted safe speed limits. But think about it for a second: if you actually did drive the speed limit, wouldn’t you also be saving fuel at the same time?

The answer is a resounding YES. Take the Toyota Prius for example. At highway speeds below 60 mpg the Prius gets around 48-50 mpg (depending if you are using the AC or not.) Push that speed up to 65-70 and the MPG drops to 42-44. Thats a 10% dip! So if you are spending an average of $40 a month on gas, its the equivalent to a free months worth!

Now imagine you are driving a big truck…what could the cost savings be?

Its so simple, most people miss it, don’t feel bad.
